Small hand-held push-counter, single-digit. Contains just four 3D printed parts and a spring from a Bic Clic-Stic ink pen. Has more of a "squish" feel rather than a click. Made this back in 2020; been sitting on the shelf since. STL files located here: www.printables.com/model/827674-mechanical-push-counter
Mechanical 18-Hole Golf Scorecard & Adder, 3D Printed
Просмотров 1,3 тыс.6 месяцев назад
Here is my version of a mechanical scorer that records the strokes for an 18-hole round of golf. Automatically adds the total strokes for each of the front and back-nine. Each set of nine dials uses a sliding-keyed-push/pull-shaft that is rotated to set the desired stroke count. The shaft's linear position is held in place by a spring-loaded ball bearing resting in one of the according 10 dimpl...

Here's an example of a 3D printed 7-segment digit as a single piece. Compatible with 5mm LEDs. In this video I show it used in the application of a 12-hour clock that adjusts brightness with ambient light. At the end, there's a short clip of the digit (and other backlit displays) being used in an arcade game I made for my wife and I. QUICK TIP: the LEDs used in this video are of the clear type....
7 Segment Display, 3D Printed, Mechanical

Just another version of a 7-segment mechanical display, 3D printed. This particular model is a sequential counter (0 - 9) that receives a linear input to cycle the display. The linear input is converted to a rotational motion before passing through a dual-spring ratcheting mechanism that serves two purposes: 1. Allow the return of the input plunger to the upper position without reversing the ca...
Arduino Player Piano, Part 2 - Design Details

Part 2 - Dives a bit deeper into the physical design and file format for playing music. The fundamental principle of this player system includes three stages for playing a note; strike, relax, & release: - STRIKE engages the solenoid at the specified volume (duty cycle). This volume is a product of the text file volume character and the volume multiplier (adjustable via the volume potentiometer...
Arduino Player Piano, Part 1 - 1911 Steinway Upright

Player piano controlled by an Arduino Uno. Music is read from a text file (.txt) encoded with segments for each note. Each song consists of a text file with a single word created through various methods. For this video, "Magnetic Rag" was generated using an MS-DOS program to convert a MIDI file into a .txt format. The text file was manipulated in MS Excel and Word before ultimately returning to...
KNex Clock Update pre-2016 -- K'Nex Clock
Просмотров 20 тыс.8 лет назад
The clock's exterior facade has been densified and strengthened. The clock's main movement has been redesigned resulting in the elimination of two gears. This gear elimination has allowed the main weight to lose one pound while keeping accuracy. The previous 5 volt motor has been replaced with a 12 volt silent worm gear motor. The user control panel now contains a chime silence knob as well as ...

New Update: (11-18-15) ruclips.net/video/j-V07sqLljQ/видео.html New in this video are the hour strike mechanism, winding system, dial, and cabinet structure. This clock keeps very good time. For each hour it plays a 6 note tune followed by a numerical strike based on the hour. The chime and hour strike mechanisms share one weight and are wound individually. The structure rigidity has been incre...
Knex Braid Pattern. Knex Braider
Просмотров 8009 лет назад
Knex braid pattern. Powered by one knex motor. One cycle consists of four stages; 1) platform rotation, 2) left push, 3) platform rotation, 4) right push. This unit no longer exists due to parts being needed for a clock project. The next phase would have been a spooler to collect the braid. This video is from late 2013.

Knex Adder 5/2b Computer Calculator
Просмотров 7 тыс.11 лет назад
K'nex 5/2b adder. Contains two full-adders and one half-adder = 5/2. Outputs the sum of two inputs. The ones place contains the half-adder which uses one XOR and one AND gate whereas the preceding full-adders use two of each due to carry-ins. Even though it's not addressed in this video, it can display a 4-bit output by observing the condition of the carry out of the fours place. In its current...

The only flaw in this design is having to glue the segments. I just built mine, and I practically need to punch the button to make it move, while yours moves absolutely effortlessly. I can only assume it's because I didn't glue some of my segments perfectly parallel, so they're binding.
Can you use glue instead of screws?
You definitely can, but I wouldn't recommend it in case you have future adjustments.
@@Flower-3D nah im good. Thanks!
So if any of the rubber bands should snap then the whole thing brakes
I like how the 6’s have the tops
This is absolutely beautiful - design/theory and execution. Awesome. A mod to allow for servo control (to make a clock) would be great.
This is so next level for me!
Would it be possible to make the gears in a way that it will also substract numbers ? Like instead of shark fins, being symetrical. Thanks!
Thank you so much, for sharing such a wonderful make.
This is SO great. Beautiful design. How about adding another timing gear that can protrude sideways and power a carry in the neighbouring unit. So we can have 2 or 3 chained for larger numbers. Just brilliant bravo!
And now a knob to go back!
This is absolutely brilliant. The design must have taken ages!
You are an amazing person for giving this model out for free. I wish you 20 million subscribers and all the wealth in the world. Have a nice day!
Great design, but I had issues :( Printed in PLA on Bambu X1C, all edges deburred, sanded slots for smooth movement. Checked cam positioning/reassembled 4 or 5 times and the cams just aren't pushing the segs out properly (either not enough 1, 3,4) and 7 doesn't work at all. Not sure what's going on.
I'm working on a new design that is built with the X1C. Stay tuned!
Very good job! But smth wrong with PDF-file in 1-digit archive, can't open it. Check it, pls.
Bravooo!
Really cool!! Is it possible to add a button to reduce the number?
hi could you share the stl please you could be earning money i find it useful.hope you consider it.
I'm thinking I could use these in my escape room as a puzzle, would need to add some kind of electronic sensor to make it activate something when the correct numbers are set. I'll think more on that and see what I can come up with
That's an interesting application. Sounds like it'd be a fun escape room!
Dude
I like it, thankyou so much, Let me try to printing it
To hide the bars better just paint the side of the bars the same color as the case. LOL
Love it
Bro thats sirriusly good. İ think you set it paid but youre thinking present to community.
The most wonderful thing i've seen... Thank u
i can make a clock with just hour and minute and use a simple timer module with servo to push those slider
thanks for making this free and not trying to nickle and dime people who are just trying to have fun building stuff for free not havibng to worry and have anxiety. i really do apreciate youf or not being irrationally greedy
One thing that's cool about this is that it could be built in any time period in history, if the correct shapes were known, and yet it feels so electronic and digitally driven. Most of our technology requires usage of a long list of previously created tech
Love this comment
wait dude can you make this into a kinda clock??? bc if you could do that i think it would be super fucking cool
hey, yes I have created a clock with this design
@@Flower-3D no way you responded :o
millenials invented mechanical calculation
Thank you a lot. This is going to be my 1st project of 3D print as this is so greatly designed and step-by-step guide.😊
I have absolutely no idea what I’d use this for but I want one.
Hey! Flower 3d a year ago I successfully re-created an earlier version of your clock it looks about the same without an auto rewinder. (I’ll use snap circuits to make a switch) and currently does not have a chime (need bell) However, it is functional. I am planning on adding a day clock to the side and 3-D printing some gears! I would like to ask you though when will that new clock video come out? I was hoping to see it in its current state. That is all I have to say for now. Thanks, ATLAS (the K’NEX person)
This does not work for me.
This is awesome! is there anyway to make it count down though?
Hey and thank you! The particular model shown in this video does not have a designed way to reverse the counting direction; however, I also haven't tested or tried because the new version I'm working on will have the ability to count down. The new version will use reversable springs to accomplish this.
Hey! If you see this, would you ever consider selling these please? I don’t have a 3D printer but would love one for crochet stitch counting!! Thanks :)
Yes I am. Currently I'm working on the next version which I'm planning to sell as an assembled unit. As for timeline, I'm not sure. Hopefully soon. Thanks!
amazing
Im printing 2 of the 2 segment versions for a competition im holding. THANK YOU!
Very nice, a slight improvement would be to add 4 small posts for the first band to hook over, a rectangular format slightly inside the returned position. This would reduce the force on the top and bottom pieces as it would be more of a deflection than a stretch. But it's a wonderful model
Thank you for the comment and feedback. Your suggestion makes total sense and has inspired me to begin experimenting with additional rubber band supports. I'm already seeing a few benefits.
Beautiful project, congratulations, I'd love to have a 3D Printer to try it, really good stuff, it is wonderful what it is possible to do nowadays with one of those machines, thanks for sharing!
Thank you! 3D design and printing has been a total blast!
Wow this is very impressive. How did you go about designing the CAMs? trying to imagine it mentally and its hurting my brain! Maybe a design video would be interesting! Very cool design and great video!
Incredible genius design. What do you have in store for v3? full x86 emulation?
Thank you. V3 will be the basis for a new series of additional features including motor control, more number ranges (0-5, 1-12, etc.), counting (forward and reverse), and timekeeping (12 and 24 hour clock). As for control, at the moment I plan to use an Arduino or similar microcontroller.
you should charge for the designs. i was ready to pay. too good! thank you for building.
Thank you, I appreciate the comment. For this design I feel like I'm already getting paid in a way. The feedback, comments, and criticism have all been invaluable to help me further improve the design.
Maybe 3d print the screws too
Agreed. 3D printed screws are now included with the files.
I might print this if I find a working SD card 😅
At first this looked pretty cool. Decided to build the dual one as a present to someone who teaches children with special needs - thought it could be used as a teaching a. After a week of tinkering I have come to an understanding that the biggest flaw of this design is the thickness of the followers and cams and too tight clearances between different cams. After several days and evenings of sanding and filing the parts the followers keep getting stuck or not actuating (slipping past the correct cam). If the cams and followers were thicker with bigger gaps between them, the assembly could have been more repeatable for everyone using different printers. I'm using Prusa Mk3s+ and found out that turning on the ironing for the cams and followers helped to make them really flat and with acceptable tolerantces. But still... I can't give this unusable counter away as a present unless I wan't spend the next year finetuning it.
by gods i need a magic the gathering megacounter like this
What The Brain!!!
Interesting project, my first thoughts were a clock or multi digit counter, then I saw you did a clock video using it. Subbed, curious to see what else you come up with.
Thanks! I'll be updating the clock design with the next version (v3) of this digit.
Incredibly ingenious
I am not sure why anyone would want something like this, but it is very interesting.
Table tennis score 😊
Fantastic work here!
